The “Air Crew Lunch” dispensing carton. (Packaged by the aforementioned Charms Company.)
The package, which could be compared to a match box, operates by pushing on one end. The flier, without removing his gloves, may have assorted candies. Pushing in the opposite direction enables him to obtain a vanilla fudge and chocolate fudge bar as well as chewing gum. The package was purposely designed so that it would fit conveniently into the pocket of the fliers suit.
Patented in 1945 by Robert de S. Crouch, Earl C. Potter & Edgerton A. Throckmorton. Assigned to Container Corporation of America.
