Brancusi Toilet Bowls

Whether you consider it a case of “great minds think alike” or the low hanging fruit of a self-referential art idea, it must at least be acknowledged that two different artists each came up the same idea of making an “endless column” out of alternating toilet bowls.

1. Tim Thyzel’s “Endless Column” (on left) used white ceramic toilet bowls and was part of his 2001 “Tiled” series.

2. Konstantin Bojanov’s 2008 “The Endless Column (after Brancusi)” used red, acrylic resin casts of toilet bowls.

More recently, Bojanov has been making films. The critically acclaimed, Avé was his first major film.
